CELEBRATING 55 YEARS

The Tomah Concert Association was organized in 1968 and 1969.  The band and choir Directors from the Tomah Senior High School and Tomah Middle School spearheaded meetings with band parents and local community music lovers. Working with John Folin, representing Allied Concert Association the first official meeting was held in December, 1968.  The first year three programs were chosen, Dixieland Jazz, Male Voices and a Guitarist.  The first concert was held October, 1969.

The Board of Directors were to find three to ten other community members willing to sell memberships door to door.  Ticket prices were:  Family membership $20.00, Adult $8.00 and Student $4.00.  Canvassing the entire community 487 memberships were sold the first season.  Telling others (word of mouth) was the best way to increase membership and that remains true today.

From the very beginning the Tomah Area School District supported the concert association by allowing all the concerts to be held in the Tomah High School auditorium if concert dates are available.

The Tomah Concert Association was formed to present concerts by outstanding, professional artists from all over the world.  Season tickets would be sold at an affordable price for the benefit of all the people of Tomah and the surrounding communities.

The mission of the Association at its inception is still valid today: for the advancement of the social, musical, educational and cultural interests.
